Why setup multiple email accounts?
The Importance of Having Multiple E-mail Accounts
By: MManick
I understand that you probably know how to compose an e-mail, delete your messages, and customize the layout. However, most people still struggle with unwanted spam and overflowing inboxes. Sure you can customize spam settings but the most effective way to keep your inbox clean is to have multiple e-mail accounts. Though this may seem like a lot of work at first, it will actually make it much easier to manage your correspondence in the long run. By having more than one e-mail account, you can determine what types of e-mail go to which account. This saves time because instead of filtering through hundreds of e-mails, you can simply check each “type” of e-mail account whenever it is convenient for you. Here is my list of the types of e-mail accounts everyone should have:
1) Work or school provided e-mail account
This type of e-mail account is provided by a company or school. It is usually some combination of your first name, last name, or identification number. These accounts should solely be used for work or school related matters.
Examples: jsmith@xyzcompany.com; jane.smith@wisconsin.edu; joe_smith@politics.gov
2) Professional e-mail account
A professional e-mail account is similar to a work/school provided e-mail account except that it is created by you. This also should be a combination of your first and/or last name and should be used for all professional matters not directly related to your job. The most popular use for this type of e-mail would be for job/school applications.
Examples: jsmith@gmail.com; jane.smith@yahoo.com; joe_smith@hotmail.com
3) Personal e-mail account
A personal e-mail account is the most popular type of e-mail account. This is an e-mail account created by you for personal matters and also serves as your primary e-mail account (the account you use whenever you need to provide a second e-mail). You can be creative with the name of this account so pick something you like! This e-mail account can be used for whatever you want but the most popular uses are: for keeping in touch with family, sharing photos, or sending funny messages/links to friends.
Examples: supersoccermom@gmail.com; luvs_2_dance@yahoo.com; HawksFan82@hotmail.com
4) “Wanted spam” account
